Tax Planning Services

Davis Miles McGuire Gardner works with start-up companies and existing businesses to develop an optimal business organization from a tax perspective. Taxation issues should not be viewed in isolation or handled as an afterthought. Tax planning should play a key role in your company’s overall business strategy. Tax laws are constantly changing and businesses need to be advised of how these changes could potentially affect their business practices. We can assist with compliance issues and make sure business transactions are structured to take advantage of the current laws. We have developed tax saving strategies that enable tax minimization while complying with the law.

At Davis Miles McGuire Gardner we provide innovative tax planning solutions in a broad range of business transactions. Some of our transactional tax services include:

  • Partnership and LLC Planning
  • Corporate and Cross-entity Agreements
  • Real Property Planning and Strategies
  • Structuring Business Transactions to Minimize Taxation
  • Profit-sharing and Pension Plan Creation and Planning
  • Business Succession Planning
  • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Captive Insurance Planning

Today, there are many innovative tools available to businesses through legitimate channels that can be used to mitigate and defer taxes. At Davis Miles McGuire Gardner we work hard to help our clients avoid scams and questionable tax strategies and tax promoters, stay within the bounds of the law, and yet consider courses that can significantly add to tax reduction or savings. Working hand in hand with accountants, CPA’s and financial advisors, we believe a team approach is often the most beneficial for our clients.

Tax Consultations for High Net-Worth Individuals

In addition to working with businesses to obtain an optimal tax structure and operations, we also work with high net-worth individuals living in the U.S. and abroad and provide consultation services with solutions tailored to fit their individual needs.

Additionally, we assist high net-worth individuals with their philanthropic desires and, where appropriate, discuss ways the entire family can take active roles in becoming stewards of funds for the benefit of others and society. Charitable trusts, family and private foundations, donor advised funds and other philanthropic vehicles are explored with our clients in appropriate circumstances.

Representation of Clients Before the IRS

Davis Miles McGuire Gardner represents clients that have tax deficiencies with the IRS. The “Offer in Compromise” is the most frequently used method to settle IRS tax debts. An Offer in Compromise is an agreement between a taxpayer and the IRS that resolves the taxpayer’s debt for less than the full amount of tax owed. Although the potential for tax relief is available, this process can be overwhelming and discouraging to many who have legitimate hardship claims. We work with clients to determine eligibility to file an Offer in Compromise. If a client is eligible, we will assist them in filling out and submitting the necessary forms. Taxpayers should be wary of various scams claiming to settle with the IRS for “pennies on the dollar.” These claims promise much and deliver little and may actually do more harm than good.
