If I have a medical malpractice claim and call a lawyer, does that mean I will automatically become involved in a lawsuit and a trial?
No. The vast majority of claims for injury are settled without a trial. If a lawsuit is necessary and the right thing to do to protect your interests, then you can choose to pursue it through your attorney. Even during a lawsuit, you are still making decisions about how you want to proceed. You, the client, are still in charge.
