The shortest divorce in Arizona is 60 days after service of process. (A.R.S. 25-329). However, most divorces take longer than this. If parties agree on everything then the process of filing documents and getting final signatures could take 3-4 ½ months. If you and your spouse are fighting over things, the process could easily take a year or longer. The system is set up to cut down on divorces sitting, unsettled, without any attempt to move forward. If the clerk of court sees a case sitting too long without action, they may dismiss the case that sits for 180 days without action. Before doing this, they need to give 60 days notice of their intent to dismiss the case, so the parties can report progress to the court and ask for more time. (A.R.F.L.P. 46).
