Davis Miles McGuire Gardner, one of the largest law firms in Arizona, headquartered in Tempe, has announced a $30,000 gift to the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University.
“We have a rich tradition with ASU Law and have for many years,” said John Skabelund, JD ’11, partner at Davis Miles McGuire Gardner. “The law school is a leader in providing students a comprehensive and personalized legal education.”
The gift entitled the “Work Worth Doing Sponsorship,” focuses on helping students develop into effective legal advocates. The funding will support ASU Law students as they journey from orientation through to graduation, honoring the work that enables the students to become great lawyers.
“We specifically support the Arizona State Law Journal and Moot Court activities, because they develop the critical hands-on skills that transform learning into ‘becoming,’” Skabelund continued. “We have a history of hiring great talent from ASU Law, and we foresee that continuing for many years to come. We are delighted to express our support and appreciation in this way,” Skabelund said.
Specifically, the “Work Worth Doing” gift will support the Arizona State Law Journal, welcome gifts for all first-year JD students during orientation, a Moot Court competition cash award gift, and student book scholarships through participation in ASU Law’s annual Gold ’n Gavel event.
“ASU Law is grateful for the continued generosity from Davis Miles McGuire Gardner. This gift will support student success by providing a robust and comprehensive educational experience while they are here. We are proud of the support from the legal community and we appreciate the relationship we have with Davis Miles McGuire Gardner,” ASU Law Dean Douglas Sylvester said.
