Accounting Clerk

Status of Job:  Hourly, full-time, non-exempt

Reporting Relationship:  Reports to Chief Financial Officer

Objectives:  Responsible for providing accounting support within the department; handles a wide variety of accounting duties, works with vendors, employees, and management.

Skill, Educational and Experience Requirements: 2 years relevant experience, legal industry preferred, Accounting degree or certificate a plus! Excellent communication skills; must be detailed oriented; a self-starter; have knowledge of general accounting practices and performing math calculations; have the ability to work with all levels of management and can keep sensitive information confidential.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:  Perform a wide variety of functions within the accounting department while maintaining a very high standard of professionalism, attendance, attention to detail, and confidentiality.  Functions to be performed include, but are not limited to:

  • Enters time into billing system and assist in the billing process
  • Assists in ensuring monthly billing schedules remain on schedule
  • Reviews and edits pre-bills in response to Attorney and Legal Assistant requests
  • Process all monthly pre-bills and client invoices in an accurate and timely manner
  • Respond to inquiries relating to billing, bills research, and assist in resolving complex billing issues
  • Creates and prints final client billing
  • Is familiar with and applies Firm billing policies
  • Utilizes accounting software programs (ProLaw, Excel, Word)
  • Research potential vendors by considering price, quality, availability, and other criteria
  • Authorizing payments and maintain receipts, records, and inventories of supplies
  • Reconcile all credit cards and matching expenses with receipts
  • Keeps kitchen and other common areas stocked and clean
  • Ensures strict confidentiality at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Personal Injury – Legal Assistant

Davis Miles McGuire Gardner, PLLC, is one of the top-ranked law firms in Arizona.  We have built a highly innovative legal team driven by excellence, accountability, integrity, respect, and teamwork.

We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in personal injury law.  The ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, a self-starter and must be able to multi-task and work independently.  This position is an in-office full-time position, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Draft pleadings, deposition notices, subpoenas, motions, certifications and briefs
  • Calendar and monitor court dates and manage client information
  • Communicate and obtain information from clients
  • Assist in trial preparation to include the preparation of trial notebooks
  • Manage attorney’s calendar
  • Manage and organize discovery
  • Schedule consultations
  • Ensure clients receive a positive experience
  • Help other departments as needed


  • Personal Injury experience – 3 years

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of personal injury procedures
  • Knowledge of technical legal terms
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Able to leverage technology to work efficiently
  • Familiarity with Smart Advocate a plus
