Professional Experience
Melissa has been involved with the Arizona criminal justice system since 2007. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from Virginia Wesleyan College in 2006. In 2013, Melissa graduated with a juris doctorate from Arizona Summit Law School.
Since law school Melissa has practiced family law, personal injury, and civil litigation in a private firm in Arizona. Melissa has also prosecuted criminal cases as a Special Victim’s Assistant District Attorney in New York. Ms. Benson’s background encompasses experience as a victims’ advocate, probation officer, judicial clerk, special victims’ unit lawyer in the District Attorney’s office as well as a private practice attorney. While in law school she published for the law review and is a certified mediator.
Personal
Melissa enjoys being a wife and the mother of three precocious and amazing children. She enjoys traveling and reading.
