J. Luke Finch is a Senior Associate at Davis Miles McGuire Gardner, PLLC in the firm’s Family Law department, where he represents clients in all dimensions of Family Law: divorce, paternity, child custody, third-party/grandparents rights, guardianship, and post decree modification and enforcement, to name a few.

In Luke’s prior life, he worked in construction for 15 years, 3 of which he owned his own business remodeling homes. Deciding to go back to college at the tender age of 30, he attended ASU and earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. His goal at the time was to become a patent attorney.

Luke graduated from Syracuse University College of Law where he was the president of the J. Ruben Clark Law Society the Federalist Society and the Intellectual Property Law Society. Before and after graduation, he worked for several IP firms, both in New York and in Arizona. He moved his family back to Arizona (grateful to see the sun again) shortly after graduation.

After being back in Arizona for a while, Luke then decided to switch gears and went to work with a more traditional law firm, working as a hybrid Family Law and Criminal Defense attorney, where he gained not only a significant amount of trial experience, but insight into the intermingling of those two areas of law.

Luke joined Davis Miles in 2019 in the Access to Justice division where he was able to further expand his knowledge and experience in many additional areas of law, but mostly involved Family Law, Criminal Defense, Firearms, and Intellectual Property. He now focuses on Family Law (but will do some IP work when he has the opportunity). His philosophy is to facilitate a peaceful resolution as much as possible, particularly when children are involved, but is an aggressive advocate for his clients when settlement is not in their best interest.

When not busy assisting clients, Luke enjoys spending time with his wonderful and hard-working wife and four awesome children (whom, along with God, deserve all the credit) both at home and in the White Mountains of Arizona, where he grew up. He also continues to do some home remodeling and other carpentry work now and then.
